Most small business websites need five core pages. Everything beyond that is optional and depends on your business type.

The five essential pages

  • Home — Your first impression. Should immediately communicate what you do, who you serve, and what makes you different. Ends with a clear call to action (book, call, get a quote).
  • Services — A breakdown of what you offer. Each service should have its own section or page so Google can index it separately and customers can find exactly what they're looking for.
  • About — Builds trust. Who you are, how long you've been doing this, what drives you. People buy from people, especially for local service businesses.
  • Contact — Phone number, email, address (if relevant), a contact form, and links to your social profiles. Make it as easy as possible to reach you.
  • Testimonials / Reviews — Social proof. Either a dedicated page or a section on your homepage. Real reviews from real customers close more business than any other content.

Additional pages worth considering

  • FAQ — Answers common questions before they become support emails. Also good for SEO.
  • Gallery / Portfolio — Essential for visual businesses: contractors, landscapers, photographers, designers, bakeries.
  • Booking / Appointment — If you take scheduled appointments, an integrated booking page reduces back-and-forth.
  • Service area pages — If you serve multiple cities or regions, dedicated pages for each location can significantly improve local search rankings. See What Are Geo Pages?
  • Blog / News — Useful for long-term SEO and thought leadership, but only worth adding if you'll actually publish content. An empty blog hurts more than no blog.
