When you request a change and don't see it right away, it's almost always your browser cache. Your browser stores a local copy of the site to load it faster, and sometimes that copy is outdated. Here's how to fix it.
Quick fix: hard refresh
Before clearing your full cache, try a hard refresh:
- Windows: Press
Ctrl + Shift + R - Mac: Press
Cmd + Shift + R - iPhone/iPad: Pull down on the page in Safari to force a refresh
- Android: Tap the three-dot menu in Chrome, then tap the refresh icon
Clear cache by browser
Google Chrome (Windows or Mac)
- Press
Ctrl + Shift + Delete(Windows) orCmd + Shift + Delete(Mac) - Set the time range to "All time"
- Check "Cached images and files"
- Click "Clear data"
Chrome on Android
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top right
- Tap Settings, then Privacy and security, then Clear browsing data
- Select "Cached images and files" and tap "Clear data"
Safari on Mac
- Go to Safari menu, then Settings, then Advanced
- Enable "Show features for web developers"
- Then go to Develop menu and click "Empty Caches"
Safari on iPhone or iPad
- Go to Settings, then Apps, then Safari
- Tap "Clear History and Website Data"
Firefox
- Press
Ctrl + Shift + Delete(Windows) orCmd + Shift + Delete(Mac) - Check "Cache" and click "Clear Now"
Microsoft Edge
- Press
Ctrl + Shift + Delete - Check "Cached images and files"
- Click "Clear now"
Samsung Internet (Android)
- Tap the three-line menu, then Settings
- Tap Personal browsing data, then Delete browsing data
- Check "Cached images and files" and tap Delete
Still not seeing the change? Try opening your website in a private or incognito window. It loads without any cached files, so you'll see the latest version of your site.
