Getting your site live is step one. Getting people to it is step two. Here are the most effective things you can do immediately after launch — none of them require a marketing budget.
1. Update your Google Business Profile
This is the single highest-impact move. Log in to your Google Business Profile and make sure your website URL is entered correctly under the "Website" field. This tells Google your site exists, drives direct traffic from your listing, and helps with local search rankings.
2. Add your URL to your social media profiles
Go to your Facebook Page, Instagram profile, and any other social accounts and add your website to the "Website" or "Bio" field. This is free traffic from people who already know you.
3. Put it in your email signature
Every email you send is an opportunity. Add your website URL to your email signature so every outgoing message passively promotes your site. On Gmail: Settings → See all settings → Signature.
4. Tell your existing customers
Send a short message to your current clients letting them know your new site is live. Ask them to leave a Google review while you're at it — reviews on your GBP improve search visibility and help convert new visitors.
5. Add it to printed materials
Business cards, flyers, receipts, van wraps, yard signs — anywhere your business name appears, your website should too. Consider adding a QR code that links directly to your site. See How do I use my website with a QR code?
6. List it on directories
Make sure your website is listed on free directories like Yelp, Bing Places, Apple Maps, and any industry-specific directories relevant to your business. Consistent listings with your URL help with SEO.
